Adah Sharma is an Indian actress who works predominantly in the Hindi, Telugu and Tamil film and television industries. She started her acting career in the year 2008 with Hindi horror movie 1920, and her performance as a possessed woman earned her praise as well as a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut nomination. She made her television debut in 2014 with Hindi serial Pukaar - Call for the Hero.
From 2008 onwards, Adah, who was born into a Tamil Palakkad Iyer family, has starred in 16 movies and three television shows. But her entry into the film industry had not been easy, as she was rejected several times when she auditioned for roles in Mumbai.
2011 to 2014:
In 2011, Adah starred in Hindi thriller Phhir alongside Rajneesh Duggal and Roshni Chopra, however, the movie failed to perform well at the box office. Then in 2013, she starred in Hum Hai Raahi Car Ke opposite Dev Goel, but the movie was a disaster at the box office. After the two films failed to perform, Adah made her Telugu debut in 2014 with the movie Heart Attack, which she followed with Hindi comedy Hasee Toh Phasee, in a supporting role, in the same year. Both her 2014 movies were a huge commercial success.
2015 to 2016:
Having made her Telugu debut in 2014, Adah followed it with another in 2015, titled S/O Satyamurthy. The movie had a host of other stars and it performed exceptionally well at the box office. She then made her Kannada debut with the movie Rana Vikrama, which performed well at the box office, which she followed with Telugu movie Subramanyam for Sale in the same year. In 2016, she starred in Telugu movies Garam and Kshanam, and then made her Tamil debut with a special appearance in the song Maaman Waiting from the film Idhu Namma Aalu.
2017 to 2020:
Adah was featured in one movie in 2017, a Hindi action-thriller titled Commando 2: The Black Money Trail. In 2019, she featured in four movies, namely, Tamil film Charlie Chaplin 2, Telugu movie Kalki, and Hindi movies Bypass Road and Commando 3. In 2020, Adah will be seen in Abir Sengupta's movie Man to Man.
TELEVISION:
Where television is concerned, apart from Pukaar - Call for the Hero (2014-2015), Adah featured in web series Moh and The Holiday in 2019.
PERSONAL LIFE:
Adah Sharma was born on May 11, 1992 and was raised in Mumbai by her father SL Sharma, who was a captain in the merchant navy, and her mother Sheila Sharma, who is a classical dancer. She did her schooling from Auxilium Convent High School in Pali Hill, Bandra and stopped studying after her 12th. She is a gymnast and graduated in Kathak from the Natraj Gopi Krishna Kathak Dance Academy in Mumbai.
