Muhammad Atif Aslam is a Pakistani playback singer, music composer and actor, who has recorded a good number of chart-topping songs. He predominantly sings in Urdu and Punjabi but has also sung in Bengali. His songs have featured in Pakistani films as well as Bollywood and Hollywood movies, and he made his acting debut in 2011 with Pakistani movie Bol.
Atif's career as a singer began in Pakistan in 2003 with the formation of the band Jal and the release of the song Aadat with Goher Mumtaz. He had recorded the song when he was 17 years of age and with his own pocket money. After he separated from the band, he released his first album titled Jal Pari on July 17, 2004, and it became an instant hit.
PAKISTANI FILMS:
In 2011, Atif sang two songs for the soundtrack of movie Bol, namely, Kaho Aaj Bol Do and Hona Tha Pyar. In 2015, he sang the song Dil Kare from the movie Ho Mann Jahaan, followed by Dil Yeh Dancer Hogaya from the movie Actor in Law in 2016. In 2018, he sang the song Thaam Lo from the movie Parwaaz Hai Junoon, and in 2019, the songs In Dinon and Anjaana from the movie Superstar.
FOREIGN FILMS:
In 2005, Atif sang three songs from the movie Man Push Cart, namely, Aadat, Ehsaas, and Yakeen, which were followed by the songs Doorie and Maula from the Peruvian movie La mujer de mi hermano. His next songs were Bol Ke Lab Azaad Hain and Mori Araj Suno from the 2012 movie The Reluctant Fundamentalist.
BOLLYWOOD MOVIES:
Beginning 2005, Atif sang the songs Woh Lamhe Woh Baatein and Lamhe (Remix) from the movie Zeher, and he earned a number of nominations for Best Male Playback Singer. The same year he sang the song Aadat in the movie Kalyug, followed by Tere Bin from the movie Bas Ek Pal in 2006. In 2008, he sang the song Pehli Nazar Mein from the movie Race, followed by Bakhuda Tumhi Ho from the movie Kismat Konnection.
In 2009, Atif sang Tera Hone Laga Hoon and Tu Jaane Na from the movie Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, followed by O Mere Khuda, Tere Liye, Kaun Hoon Main, Aa Bhi Ja Sanam, and Prince Theme from the 2010 movie Prince. In 2011, he sang the song Le Jaa Tu Mujhe from the movie F.A.L.T.U, and in 2012 the songs Piya O Re Piya and Tu Mohabbat Hai from the movie Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya.
In 2013, Atif sang the songs Aa Bhi Ja Mere Mehermaan, Dil Na Jaane Kyun, and Hai Na from the movie Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story, followed by Be Intehan and Allah Duhai Hai from movie Race 2, then Jeene Laga Hoon, Bairiyaa and Rang Jo Lagyo from movie Ramaiya Vastavaiya, and lastly Main Rang Sharbaton Ka and Janam Janam from the movie Phata Poster Nikhla Hero. In 2014, he sang the songs Tera Naam Doon and Nahi Woh Saamne from the movie Entertainment.
Atif worked in a number of Bollywood movies from 2015 onwards, namely, Badlapur, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Loveshhuda (2016), Rustom (2016), A Flying Jatt (2016), Hindi Medium (2017), Half Girlfriend (2017), Sweetiee Weds NRI (2017), Raabta (2017), Tubelight (2017), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017). In 2018, he worked in Daas Dev, Baaghi 2, Race 3, Satyameva Jayate, Genius, Laila Majnu, Mitron, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, Loveyatri, and Namaste England. In 2019, he sang the song Auliya from the movie Hum Chaar.
PUNJABI & BENGALI MOVIES:
In 2010, Atif sang the song Rona Chadita from Punjabi movie Mel Karade Rabba, and in 2017, he sang the song Mithe Alo from Bengali movie Cockpit.
OTHERS:
Atif has released some albums, two of them are Jal Pari, released in 2004, and Doorie, released in 2006, and a good number of singles too. He has also worked on television commercials and serials and is a recipient of numerous awards and nominations for his work.
PERSONAL LIFE:
Atif Aslam was born on March 12, 1983 in Wazirabad, Punjab, Pakistan to Muhammad Aslam and Rehana Shaheen, and he has three brothers and one sister. He did his schooling from Kimberley Hall School in Lahore, and then continued his studies at St. Paul's Cambridge School in Rawalpindi, before returning to Lahore and continuing at the Divisional Public School. He earned his Bachelor in Computer Science degree from Punjab Institute of Computer Science in Lahore. He is married to educationist Sara Bharwana with whom he has a son.
