Ayesha Takia is an Indian actress who works predominantly in the Hindi film industry. She made her acting debut 2004 in the movie Taarzan: The Wonder Car, which won her the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award and IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female.
Apart from Hindi movies, Ayesha, who began her career as a model at the age of 15, also appeared in the 2005 Telugu film Super, with Tollywood star Akkineni Nagarjuna, for which she was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu.
2004 TO 2005:
Ayesha, who was also nominated for a Screen Award for Most Promising Newcomer – Female and Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut for her role in Taarzan: The Wonder Car, went on to star in Dil Maange More in 2004 and was nominated for two awards again. In 2005, she starred in Socha Na Tha alongside debutant Abhay Deol and Apoorva Jha, and it was also the directorial debut of Imtiaz Ali. The same year she starred in Shaadi No. 1, which had a huge star cast, and then in Telugu film Super, followed by Home Delivery: Aapko... Ghar Tak.
2006:
In 2006, Ayesha featured in three movies, Shaadi Se Pehle, Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota, and Dor. The latter had also featured actors Gul Panag and Shreyas Talpade, and it won Ayesha the Screen Award for Best Actress (Critics), Zee Cine Award – Critics' Choice Best Actress, Bengal Film Journalists' Association - Best Actress Award, and Stardust Best Supporting Actress Award.
2007 TO 2011:
Ayesha featured in six movies in 2007, namely, Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love, Kya Love Story Hai, Fool & Final, Cash, Blood Brothers, and No Smoking. In 2008, she starred in Sunday, and De Taali, and the following year in 8 x 10 Tasveer alongside actor Akshay Kumar, and in Wanted alongside Salman Khan. In 2010, she starred in Paathshaala alongside Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Arya, Ali Haji, Sushant Singh and Nana Patekar, and in 2011 in the movie Mod alongside Rannvijay Singh, Raghuvir Yadav, Tanvi Azmi and Anant Mahadevan.
In 2012, Ayesha hosted a singing talent show or musical battle between teams of two neighboring countries: Pakistan and India titled Sur Kshetra. The show concluded with a finalist face-off between the two teams, in which Nabeel Shaukat Ali from Pakistan won the title.
PERSONAL LIFE:
Ayesha Takia was born on April 10, 1986 in Mumbai, Maharashtra to Nishit Takia and Faridah Takia and she has one sister. She studied at St Anthony's Girls High School in Chembur and is married to restaurateur Farhan Azmi, son of Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi. She has one son with her husband.
