Amit Trivedi is an Indian music director, film score composer, singer and lyricist who works predominantly in the Hindi film industry. He made his debut as a film composer in 2008 in the movie Aamir and shot to fame with the unusual music he composed for the 2009 film Dev.D. He is also a recipient of numerous awards, among them the National Film Award, and the Filmfare R.D. Burman Award.
Before entering the film industry, Amit worked as a theatre and jingle composer and composed for non-film albums, and it was after his friend and playback singer Shilpa Rao suggested his name to film director Anurag Kashyap that he began composing for films. Apart from movies, he also composed the team anthem 'Game for More' for Royal Challengers Bangalore, wrote the title track for the reality show Big Switch aired on UTV Bindaas, and composed the title track for the television show Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan.
2008 TO 2012:
Amit composed the soundtrack or song/songs for movies Aamir (2008-Six Tracks), Anthiponvettam (Malayalam-1 Song-2008), Dev.D (2009-All Songs), Wake Up Sid (Background Score-1 Song-2009), Striker (1 Song-2010), Udaan (All Songs-2010), Aisha (All Songs-2010), I Am (5 Songs-2011), No One Killed Jessica (All Songs-2011), Chillar Party (All Songs-2011), Trishna (Composer-2011), Ishaqzaade (All Songs-2012), Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (All Songs-2012), English Vinglish (All Songs-2012), Aiyyaa (All Songs-2012), and Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana (All Songs-2012).
2013 TO 2019:
In 2013 and 2014, Amit composed the music of all the songs in movies Kai Po Che!, Bombay Talkies, Ghanchakkar, Lootera, and Queen (2014). They were followed by Bombay Velvet (2015), Guddu Rangeela (2015), Highway (Marathi Debut-2015), Shaandaar (2015), Fitoor (2016), Udta Punjab (2016), Dear Zindagi (2016), Qaidi Band (2017), Secret Superstar (2017), Rukh (2017), Pad Man (2018), and Raid (Background Score-2 Songs-2018).
Amit collaborated for the first time with rapper Divine for song Badla from movie Blackmail and composed the track for four songs in 2018. The same year he worked for movies The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir (3 Songs), Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (All Songs), Fanney Khan (5 Songs), Manmarziyaan (All Songs), Andhadhun (9 Songs), Helicopter Eela (3 Songs), and Kedarnath (All Songs).
The following year Amit composed the music for Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy (Telegu), That Is Mahalakshmi (Telegu remake of Hindi movie Queen), V (Telegu), Butterfly (Kannada remake of Hindi movie Queen), Paris Paris (Tamil remake of Hindi movie Queen), Zam Zam (Malayalam remake of Hindi movie Queen), India's Most Wanted, and Mission Mangal.
PLAYBACK SINGER:
Amit was a playback singer for a host of movies from 2008 to 2018, namely, Aamir, Dev D, Udaan, Aisha, Chillar Party, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 1, English Vinglish, Aiyyaa, Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, Kai Po Che!, Bombay Talkies, Ghanchakkar, Lootera, Queen, Hunterrr, Guddu Rangeela, Shaandaar, Bhale Manchi Roju (Telegu), Fitoor, Dear Zindagi, Udta Punjab, Qaidi Band, Newton, Pad Man, Blackmail, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, Fanney Khan, Andhadhun, and Kedarnath.
PERSONAL LIFE:
Amit Trivedi was born on April 8, 1979 in Mumbai, Maharashtra to a traditional Gujarati family with his native city being Ahmedabad in Gujarat, and he has two elder sisters. He did his graduation from Rizvi College in Mumbai, and he is married to Krutee Desai with whom he has one son.
