Anne Jacqueline Hathaway is an American actress who works in movies, television serials and stage shows. She made her movie debut in 2001 in Disney's The Princess Diaries alongside veteran actress Julie Andrews, and her acting debut in the short-lived television drama series Get Real (1999–2000).

Anne Jacqueline Hathaway was born on November 12, 1982 in the Brooklyn borough of New York City to Gerald Hathaway, a lawyer, and Kate McCauley, a former actress, and she has two brothers. She did her schooling at the Brooklyn Heights Montessori School and Wyoming Elementary School in Millburn and then graduated from Millburn High School. She took up English major and Political Science minor at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York before transferring to New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study. She is married to actor and businessman Adam Shulman and has one child with him.
