However, no official confirmation has yet been received from concerned authorities.

On Wednesday, the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) said that the heavy rains are expected to lash— Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Medak, Sangareddy, Rajanna Sircilla, Jagtial, Pedapalli, Mancherial, Adilabad, Jayashankar, Bhupalpally, Hanumakonda, Warangal, and Mulugu districts.

Rains trigger flood-like situation in Jammu

Meanwhile, heavy rains have triggered a flood-like situation in Jammu even as the monsoon showers have witnessed a lull in other parts of northern India over the past few days.

Heavy rains lashed wide parts of Jammu division overnight, triggering mudslides and landslides at several places along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Ramban district, forcing authorities to suspend traffic, the officials said.

“The highway is still blocked and people are advised not to travel till the restoration work is completed,” a traffic department official told PTI.

The officials said the traffic on the Jammu-Pathankot highway was also diverted in Kathua district where two pillars of a bridge suffered damages due to flash floods in Tarnah nallah.

Sometimes, you leave your high-paying job to chase your dreams. The same happened with Telangana-based Tula Raghunath who left his IT job and planned to start a business of his own so that he could employ many job seekers.

Entrepreneurial Plunge

Employed in a top IT firm with a good salary, Raghunath was however not satisfied with his career and decided to take the entrepreneurial plunge. While working in the old company, he decided to sell Goli soda, a refreshing drink famous in southern states like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka.

Raghunath says he has seen vendors making Goli soda about 20 years back in Karimnagar as a kid and that image was fixed in his mind. While working in the IT firm, he realised no one sells Goli Soda in his area where he stayed and decided to take the onus upon himself.

Even though it was not easy, Raghunath says he was not married when he decided to quit his job and risked not receiving marriage proposals if his venture failed.

Opposition From Parents

Initially, he faced opposition from his parents when he shared his idea with them. However, Raghunath was determined to start this new venture.

He resigned from his job in 2020 and invested Rs 30 lakh in the Goli Soda company. He says he had to borrow money from several sources and mortgage his house to pay for the investment. However, his hard work and passion paid him off well. Now, he is earning lakhs and employs about 100 people.

What Is Goli Soda?

Even though Goli Soda is there in the market for a century, it is still considered as one of the most popular beverages and is now offered in a variety of flavours.

Often called as sada soda and colour soda, Goli Soda is produced in a variety of flavours, including suganda soda, nimma soda, sweet soda, salt soda and salt and sweet.

In a surprising move, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday announced the decision to withdraw the circulation of Rs 2,000 denomination notes. However, it gave the public time till September 30 to either deposit such notes in accounts or exchange them at banks.

Also, the Rs 2000 notes continue to be legal tenders, unlike the demonetisation that was announced by PM Modi on November 8, 2016, which rendered Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes invalid.

The Rs 2,000 notes will continue to be legal tender till September 30, RBI said in a statement.  In a release, the central bank said that this is being done under its “Clean Note Policy”.

The last date to deposit and exchange Rs 2000 notes is September 20, 2023, and it can be done by either depositing them in your bank account or exchanging them with other notes from a bank.

Telangana Guv to Draw Centre’s Attention To Problems of Villages Merged With Andhra https://www.india.com/telangana/telangana-guv-to-draw-centres-attention-to-problems-of-villages-merged-with-andhra-6055365/ Wed, 17 May 2023 12:40:53 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=6055365 Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Wednesday assured that she would bring to the notice of the Centre the problems faced by five villages of Telangana which were merged with Andhra Pradesh. She gave the assurance while interacting with the tribals at Bhadrachalam town in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. Bhadrachalam MLA P. Veeraiah briefed the Governor on the problems faced by the people. He urged her to use her good offices to ensure that Telangana gets back five gram panchayats merged with Andhra Pradesh.

The MLA told the Governor that people of these gram panchayats were suffering due to floods in Godavari river. He called for finding a permanent solution to the problems of floods. The governor gave the assurance that she would take up with the Centre the issue of villages merged with Andhra Pradesh.

Earlier, Tamilisai Soundararajan reached Bhadrachalam from Hyderabad. She had a darshan at Sitaramachandra Swamy temple. Temple officials and priests welcomed her. She told reporters that she prayed for the well-being of all people of the country.

She later participated in public programme and District Red Cross Conference. After the programmes at Bhadrachalam, the Governor visited Khammam to participate in the Y20 workshop at Sri Chaitanya Institute of Technology and Research, (formally KITS, Khammam), Ponnekal.

It may be recalled that after massive floods in Bhadrachalam and surrounding villages last year, Telangana’s transport minister P. Ajay Kumar had demanded that seven mandals (blocks) merged with Andhra Pradesh in 2014 be handed back to Telangana. After bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to carve out Telangana state, the Centre had issued an ordinance merging seven mandals of Telangana with Andhra Pradesh to facilitate construction of Polavaram project across Godavari in the neighbouring state.

The demand for demerger had evoked strong reaction from Andhra Pradesh. On Ajay Kumar’s demand to handover at least five villages near Bhadrachalam to Telangana, Andhra Pradesh’s minister for water resources Ambati Rambabu had said that the demand should be made to the Centre.

Fact Check: What’s The Story Behind Viral Photo Of Padlock On Graves? https://www.india.com/viral/pakistan-padlocks-being-put-on-dead-womens-graves-to-avoid-rape-6022271/ Sat, 29 Apr 2023 14:50:51 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=6022271 Fact Check: It was earlier reported by news agency ANI that the locked grave photo was from Pakistan. However, the claim has been found to be false and misleading. The photo is from Telangana and a lock has been put on this grave so that no one can bury someone else in this grave.

HERE IS THE SCREEN SHOT OF THE TWEET POSTED BY ANI

It is revealed that the image is from a cemetery in Hyderabad, India, which is located opposite Masjid E Salar Mulk in Darab Jung Colony, Madannapet.

India.com published the story on April 30 wherein it was claimed that parents in Pakistan have started to guard the dead bodies of their daughters to prevent “rape” by putting padlocks on their graves. The report was attributed to the Daily Times.

The image of the grave with a padlock was shared by Harris Sultan, claiming to be an ex-Muslim atheist activist and author of “The Curse of God, why I left Islam”. Sultan tweeted: “Pakistan has created such a horny, sexually frustrated society that people are now putting padlocks on the graves of their daughters to prevent them from getting raped. When you link the burqa with rape, it follows you to the grave.”

“This is being done as a desperate bid to ensure the sanctity of dead bodies in case some randy monsters cherry-pick them to satiate their lust. Considering the rampant rise in necrophilia, one can’t help but understand the urge to protect loved ones,” reported Daily Times.
