Telangana BJP MP: Soyam Bapu Rao, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha MP from Adilabad, Telangana has found himself in some hot soup after a video of him went viral in which he is addressing a group of people from the dais and claiming that he used some of Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds to build a home and to get his son married.

In the video, Bapu Rao could be purportedly heard saying: “I did not have a house, and if I did not have one, I would have no value and so I used some of the funds to build one. I am admitting to what I did, something no other leader would do, leaders who in the past swindled a lot of such funds. There was also a marriage that I had to perform and used some funds for that. No other leader will admit this, but I am admitting,” Rao said adding that some of the money was given to Municipal Police Training Committees and councillors, says deccanchronicle.com.

After the video clip went viral on social media, Soyam Bapu Rao said the event shown in the video took place about four days ago and that he had not seen it yet. He added that unless he saw the video, he would not be able to comment on it.

He also claimed that the video could have been altered and leaked by his political rivals.
